Mutual Recognition Agreement with the Institute of Public Accountants (IPA), Australia
ACA Malaysia has a Mutual Recognition Agreement (MRA) with the Institute of Public Accountants (IPA), Australia. Our certified members are eligible for full IPA membership. IPA is one of Australia’s three recognized professional accounting bodies and a member of the International Federation of Accountants (IFAC).

ACA Program Structure
1. Foundation Stage (Affiliate Membership) – Accounting Technician
(Pre-requisite: Certificate in Accounting, SPM, O Level or equivalent)
Subjects (Duration: 6 months):
- T1 Financial Accounting
- T2 Management Accounting
- T3 Business Law for Accountants
- T4 Economics for Business
- Each subject requires 8 hours of online sessions and a 3-hour online exam.
2. Technical Stage (Associate Membership – Technician Level) – Accounting Executive
(Pre-requisite: MQA-accredited Diploma in Accounting or completion of Foundation Stage)
Subjects (Duration: 6 months):
- E1 Advanced Taxation
- E2 Strategic Management
- E3 Internal Audit
- E4 Management Information Systems
- Each subject requires 8 hours of online sessions and a 3-hour online exam.
3. Professional Stage (Certified Membership – Accountant Level) – Certified Accountant
(Pre-requisite: MQA-accredited Degree in Accounting or completion of the Technical Stage)
Subjects (Duration: 6 months):
- C1 Advanced Financial Accounting & Reporting
- C2 Management Accounting Strategy
- C3 Advanced Corporate Finance
- C4 Corporate Governance & Ethics
- Each subject requires 8 hours of online sessions and a 3-hour online exam.
ACA Exemption Policy
- Recognized Diploma in Accounting or equivalent → Exempted from 4 papers
- Recognized Degree in Business or equivalent → Exempted from 8 papers
- Recognized Degree in Accounting (MIA-accredited) → Required to sit for Advanced Corporate Finance only
